CALL FOR CODE

Call for Code exists to ignite the imagination and ingenuity of the 24 million developers worldwide, empowering them to craft innovative, scalable solutions that confront the most urgent environmental, humanitarian, and social challenges of our time. By drawing on the vast reservoir of talent within the global coding community, Call for Code accelerates the development of technologies that not only address immediate crises but foster enduring resilience in vulnerable communities.

In 2018, French President Emmanuel Macron lent his support to the initiative at the VivaTech Conference in Paris, where IBM announced an initial $30 million investment in the Call for Code Global Initiative. One year later, IBM expanded its commitment to $55 million, further fueling the effort to develop and deploy transformative solutions.

Now in its eighth year, Call for Code stands as the most extensive developer engagement in history, with millions of technological contributions and over 40,000 applications created to date. More than a competition, it is a testament to the power of collaboration and technology to shape a more sustainable and equitable future.
